Tiberius Dănuț Epure, former rector of 'Ovidius' University in Constanța, has reportedly been detained in a pimping case, according to sources from the local press.
The police of the Municipal Criminal Investigation Service conducted six searches in the counties of Constanța and Călărași, targeting the homes of individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
As a result of the action, relevant items for the investigation were seized, and three individuals, including Epure, were detained for 24 hours.
A 55-year-old man is accused of facilitating prostitution by offering rented properties for sexual services.
The other detainees are a 38-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman.
Tiberius Dănuț Epure led 'Ovidius' University until 2013 and has previously been investigated for corruption.
All individuals involved benefit from the presumption of innocence until a final court decision is made.
