Daniel Manole, former director of the Romanian Agency for the Rescue of Human Life at Sea (ARSVOM), has avoided prison after admitting to taking bribes for public contracts. DNA prosecutors notified the Constanța Tribunal with a plea agreement, and Manole accepted a sentence of 3 years in prison, suspended under supervision for 4 years, plus 90 days of community service.

During the investigation, it was established that, in 2020, Manole received 88,162 lei from the administrator of a company, M.I., to facilitate the execution of public procurement contracts for rescue vessels. Additionally, other co-defendants were sent to trial for influence peddling and bribery. Protective measures were imposed on the amount of 181,607.52 lei, deposited by Manole. The case continues with other indictments related to corruption acts within the Ministry of Transport.
