Floreasca Emergency Clinical Hospital, one of the largest emergency healthcare units in Romania, is in a critical situation, risking to run out of funds for medications and sanitary materials.
The hospital manager has informed department heads that they need to prioritize admissions and reschedule patients, considering that in the first three months of the year there has been an increase in the number of patients by 500, leading to a financial overrun of over 10 million lei. The hospital receives patients from all over the country, with an average of 2,500 admissions per month. The announced measures include prioritizing admissions for urgent cases and optimizing hospitalization by shifting towards day hospitalization. Usually, the National Health House would make additional acts to obtain extra funds, but this has not happened this year. The hospital management has emphasized that without these measures, the unit could remain without essential resources. The National Health House is aware of the situation and is working to allocate additional funds to the hospital.
