On Friday morning, a fire broke out in the Piața Romană area of Bucharest, causing panic among passersby and disrupting traffic in one of the capital's busiest intersections. Witnesses observed thick black smoke rising from the asphalt and alerted the authorities by calling 112. On-site, crews from the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate quickly intervened to locate and extinguish the fire. Initial information suggests that the fire broke out from underground electrical cables, a common problem in heavily trafficked urban areas.

The thick smoke was visible from a distance, and the firefighters' intervention was essential to prevent the fire from spreading and to protect the population. The incident affected traffic lights in the area, causing traffic jams and difficulties for drivers. As of this moment, no casualties have been reported, and the intervention is ongoing.
