A recent operation has uncovered serious problems in the retail trade, resulting in over 2 million lei in fines for chains such as Carrefour, Kaufland and Lidl. The checks targeted frequent consumer complaints, including different prices between shelf and checkout, expired products and misleading labels. Of the 248 operators checked, 244 were fined and ANPC recalled products worth almost 100,000 lei. Two shops were temporarily closed due to serious irregularities.
