The Competition Council fines two companies over 52 million lei for fixing sugar prices.

The Competition Council has fined the companies Agrana Sales & Marketing GmbH, Agrana Romania SRL, and Lucsor Impex SRL a total of 52.09 million lei, after finding that they jointly set the selling prices of sugar on the Romanian market. According to the authority, the agreement aimed to maintain or increase the price of sugar above the level that would have resulted under normal competitive conditions. At the same time, the investigation into Pfeifer & Langen Romania SRL was closed, as there was not enough evidence to justify the imposition of sanctions.
