The accident took place on the DN 76, in Hidișelu de Jos, when a 66-year-old man made a left turn, violating the road markings, and collided with a car driven by a 22-year-old man. The impact caused the young man's car to overturn and he suffered fatal injuries. The 26-year-old female passenger was seriously injured and the 66-year-old man suffered minor injuries. A breathalyzer test showed that the elderly driver had not been drinking. The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances of the accident.
