11 mountain rescue interventions at "Transylvania 100", after incidents caused by severe weather in the Bucegi Mountains

The mountain running competition 'Transylvania 100', held in the Bucegi Mountains, was severely affected by harsh weather conditions, causing 11 incidents on the race routes. Salvamont Brașov intervened to assist injured participants, and three of the interventions were still ongoing at the time of reporting.

The extremely changeable weather brought low temperatures, strong winds, and snow-covered slopes, which led to slips and injuries in technical areas. Rescuers provided first aid and evacuated athletes, some of whom showed symptoms of hypothermia. The interventions were hampered by reduced visibility, which prevented the use of the SMURD helicopter.

Salvamont Prahova was also on alert, preparing additional teams for rapid interventions. 'Transylvania 100' is a renowned competition, attracting over a thousand participants from around the world each year, on routes considered among the most difficult in Eastern Europe.
