On October 17, 2025, an explosion caused by a gas accumulation occurred in a block in the Rahova neighborhood of Bucharest, resulting in three deaths and 20 injuries. Following the incident, Distrigaz Sud Rețele received approval to gradually resume gas supply in the Calea Rahovei area, but not all blocks will benefit from this measure. Some buildings will remain without gas until the investigations conducted by the authorities are completed. The company announced that its teams have started preparatory work to restore gas supply on the streets of Malcoci, Oltina, Pecineaga, Slt. Popa, Popina, Pricopan, Rahovei, Sălaj, and Vicina. However, for the blocks affected by the explosion and those nearby, gas will remain shut off until the investigations are completed. Currently, Distrigaz teams are carrying out necessary activities to ensure a safe resupply for the affected customers.
