On Friday, a powerful explosion occurred in a building in the Rahova neighborhood of Bucharest, detected by the seismic stations of the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development. Two stations, BFER from Ferentari and BUC from the Silver Mountain Seismological Observatory, recorded this event, estimating the energy of the explosion to be equivalent to that of a local earthquake of magnitude 1.2.
INCDFP specialists emphasized the importance of these instruments for real-time monitoring of ground movements, whether caused by natural earthquakes or anthropogenic events. This situation highlights the effectiveness of the seismic monitoring system in Bucharest.
