On Sunday morning, an explosion occurred on the 2nd floor of a building in Bistrița, in the apartment of a 77-year-old pensioner. All residents of the building evacuated themselves, and the elderly man was found alive and transported to the hospital for further investigations. Firefighters responded quickly, evacuating 16 people, including a minor, with no casualties reported. A buildup of natural gas is suspected to be the cause of the explosion; however, measurements taken did not detect gas in the building. The gas was completely shut off, and the owners were allowed to return to their apartments after checks. The elderly man's daughter mentioned that the gas installation had been recently inspected, and neighbors did not smell gas before the incident. The damages were minor, affecting only the apartment where the explosion occurred.
