The Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity has announced that the implementation of the SCI2000 project, the largest European social inclusion project, has begun with the receipt of advances of over 41.2 million euros from approximately 400 rural municipalities.
These funds mark the transition from the preparation stage to the actual implementation stage, and the remaining 2,000 registered municipalities will receive advances once the documentation is validated. The project brings together integrated community teams from the fields of social assistance, health, and education, aiming to support vulnerable individuals. Among the benefits of the project are the prevention of school dropout, access to educational and medical services, home care for the elderly, and support for people with disabilities.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund Plus and the European Regional Development Fund, with the ultimate goal of facilitating access to basic services for approximately 450,000 vulnerable individuals in rural areas.
