In 2025, tourism in the European Union reached a new record, with nearly 3.1 billion nights spent in accommodation units, representing a 2.2% increase compared to 2024. Significant increases were observed in Malta (10.1%) and Poland (7.2%), while Romania recorded a decrease of 1.7%, with 29.685 million nights.

Almost 62% of total overnight stays were concentrated in four countries: Spain, Italy, France, and Germany. In the last quarter of 2025, the number of nights increased by 3%, but Romania experienced a decrease of 4.6%. International tourism was the main driver of growth, with a 3.4% increase in overnight stays by international visitors, while domestic tourism in Romania decreased by 3.5%.
