On Thursday, October 23, several homes in the Băile Olănești resort were urgently evacuated due to a failure in an underground gas pipeline on Cheia Street, caused by work on the sewage network. The Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) Vâlcea sent a Ro-Alert message to warn the population, and access to the area was blocked. Firefighting crews, a CBRN team, and SMURD intervened on site, and the area was cordoned off within an 800-meter radius for the protection of citizens. In total, 35 people were evacuated from nearby homes. Teams from Distrigaz have stopped the gas supply and are working to fix the failure.
