In the Nordis case, DIICOT ordered precautionary seizure over 184 properties and 14 plots of land, valued at approximately 12 million euros, with the measure taken up to the amount of the alleged damage, estimated at over 58 million euros. The investigation concerns offenses such as forming an organized criminal group, embezzlement, money laundering, tax evasion, and illegally obtaining budget refunds.
Subsequently, DIICOT expanded the criminal investigation following new complaints filed by people claiming to have suffered losses, and the inquiries were supplemented with charges for offenses including those related to operations alleged to have concealed the origin of certain sums. Meanwhile, several alleged victims protested in front of the DNA headquarters in Bucharest, calling for the investigation to be expedited and for clarification of how the complaints had been handled.
