Elections for the leadership of the Romanian Academy: A new president will be appointed in April

The President of the Romanian Academy, Ioan Aurel Pop, announced that the elections for the position of president will take place on April 7, immediately after the 160th anniversary of the institution.

The two candidates, Mircea Dumitru and Marius Andruh, are academicians with extensive experience in their fields. Mircea Dumitru, at the age of 66, is the vice president of the Academy and a former rector of the University of Bucharest, with solid expertise in philosophy. Marius Andruh, 72 years old, is the vice president of the Academy and the director of the Institute of Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry, being a prominent figure in Romanian chemistry.

The elections for the leadership positions of the Academy will take place in two stages, and the second stage will include the election of the vice presidents and the general secretary.
