An earthquake of 3.5 degrees occurred on Saturday in Vrancea, at a depth of 135.2 km, felt locally near the towns of Focșani and Buzău.

On Saturday, at 9:25 AM, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 occurred in the seismic area of Vrancea, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development (INCDFP). The earthquake took place at a depth of 135.2 kilometers, being felt locally in cities such as Focșani (49 km west), Sfântu-Gheorghe (62 km east), Buzău (64 km north), Brașov (74 km east), and Ploiești (92 km northeast).

In December, Romania recorded eight earthquakes with magnitudes between 2 and 3.5, and the largest earthquakes this year were of 4.4 degrees, recorded on February 13 in Buzău and on May 11 in Vrancea.

The most significant earthquake of 2024 had a magnitude of 5.4, occurring in Buzău County on September 16.
