The tremor was felt near the cities of Târgu Jiu, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, and Râmnicu Vâlcea, without causing damage. During the same period, Greece was affected by a stronger earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.3, in the northwest of the country, felt in the Ioannina region.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located near the city of Leptokarya, at a depth of 14 km. Although no casualties were reported, approximately ten houses in the municipality of Souli were damaged, and landslides affected the roads in the area.
