A new drone was shot down on Sunday morning by an F-16 of the Romanian Air Force, in the Sulina–Chilia area.

On Sunday morning, at 10:13, a drone was shot down by an F-16 of the Romanian Air Force, over the territorial waters of Romania, in the Sulina–Chilia area.

The announcement was made by President Nicușor Dan on Facebook, who congratulated the pilots and ground teams for their professionalism and courage demonstrated.

This is the third incident of this kind in the last 48 hours, after Shahed-type drones, used by the Russian Federation in the conflict in Ukraine, were shot down in Buzău and Sfântu Gheorghe.

Investigations regarding these incidents are ongoing, and Romania will file a diplomatic protest against the Russian Federation, emphasizing that the violation of Romanian airspace is unacceptable and will be treated seriously, alongside NATO allies and the European Union.
