A driver from Ilfov was caught driving at 215 km/h on the A1, with an expired license. He was fined over 5,000 lei and his license was suspended.

A 36-year-old driver from Ilfov County was detected by police on the A1 Highway driving at 215 km/h, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 130 km/h. The incident occurred during a 'blitz' operation carried out on May 2 by the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate, aimed at combating excessive speed.


The driver was fined a total of over 5,000 lei, and his right to drive was suspended for 120 days. In the same operation, a 34-year-old foreign citizen was caught driving at 200 km/h, being fined 1,822.5 lei and having his license suspended for 90 days. The police issued 50 contraventional sanctions, of which 39 were for exceeding the speed limit, and the rest for other offenses. Control actions will continue to enhance road safety.
