In 2024, DNSC identified and managed 101 ransomware attacks with significant impact on critical infrastructure in Romania. The attack on Romanian Soft Company affected 26 hospitals and the attack on Electrica compromised 800 servers and 4,000 workstations. Other attacks targeted city halls, including Timisoara and Sector 5 in Bucharest, where public services were affected. DNSC intervened to recover data and issued recommendations for securing systems, highlighting a new ransomware variant identified from previous attacks.
