Approximately 500,000 euros were discovered by DNA prosecutors following searches conducted at the home of the director of the Plopeni Mechanical Plant, in a case concerning alleged bribery in the defense industry. The investigation targets three directors accused of favoring certain companies in the execution of contracts.
Among them are Rafiu Mihai, general director of the Bucharest Mechanical Plant, and Pîrvu Tiberiu Alexandru, general director of the Plopeni Mechanical Plant, both accused of continuous bribery.
During the searches, DNA discovered sums of money amounting to over 500,000 euros at the home of Pîrvu Tiberiu Alexandru. Additionally, Sorescu Liliana, commercial director of the Plopeni Mechanical Plant, is accused of receiving bribes, including in dollars, from counterfeit banknotes.
Illegal activities took place between 2025-2026, in connection with procurement contracts and services between the plants and the commercial companies managed by the defendant V.M., who has also been detained. The four will be presented to the Bucharest Tribunal with a proposal for preventive detention.
