DNA conducts searches in Constanța / Services for NATO military vessels are targeted

Prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate are conducting searches at three locations in Constanța County in a criminal case involving suspicions of tax evasion, fraud and money laundering. The investigation concerns a company and its representatives in connection with the provision of port assistance services for military ships belonging to NATO member states.

According to DNA, the searches are taking place at the homes of private individuals and at the headquarters of a company. The activities are being carried out as part of an internationally coordinated operation, with the support of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (EUROJUST).

In Norway, authorities detained five people and carried out searches at homes and company premises. In Germany, searches were conducted under a European Investigation Order.

The operation is being conducted by a joint investigation team comprising DNA, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Ministry of Defence Police of the United Kingdom, as well as Norway’s authority specializing in the investigation of economic and environmental crimes.
