DNA prosecutors are conducting 96 searches on Monday, October 5, in the counties of Satu Mare, Bihor, Sălaj, Maramureș, Cluj, and Mureș, as part of a case concerning suspicions of corruption at the Halmeu Border Crossing Point in Satu Mare County. The premises of two public institutions and the homes of several private individuals are being targeted.
According to the National Anticorruption Directorate, the investigation concerns alleged acts committed during 2025-2026 by border police officers and customs officers. They allegedly received various sums of money in connection with carrying out their official duties within the border structures.
The searches are being conducted by prosecutors from the DNA – Oradea Territorial Service, who are examining documents and other relevant evidence to establish the facts and responsibilities. The operation is supported by the General Anticorruption Directorate, the Bihor County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, the Cluj-Napoca Mobile Gendarmerie Group, and the Bihor and Cluj County Police Inspectorates.
The investigations are ongoing, and the persons concerned benefit from the rights and guarantees provided by law throughout the criminal proceedings.
