The DNA prosecutors raided the Iași City Hall to investigate the disappearance of over 500 tons of fuel oil from CET II Halboca, a case that generated a loss of over 2 million lei. The investigation was initiated following the discovery that part of the stored fuel was mixed with water, raising suspicions about the management of the stocks. In 2022, Romania planned to send fuel oil to the Republic of Moldova, and the disappearance of the fuel sparked controversy. Prosecutors are checking documents related to this situation, including signatures and any possible attempts to cover up the disappearance.
Several individuals from the City Hall and the local heating system have been interviewed, including Alin Aivănoaei. The involvement of Mayor Mihai Chirica is also being analyzed.
