PHOTO DN 1, blocked in Prahova, between Comarnic and Nistorești, due to torrential rains and floods

DN 1 is blocked, Monday afternoon, in the area of the town of Comarnic and the locality of Nistorești, Prahova County, due to torrential rains that have led to water accumulation on the road. This is the second time in 24 hours that DN1 is blocked due to floods.

The blockage of this road, the most trafficked in Romania, comes a day after a devastating flood in the resort of Bușteni, which severely affected the area.

The Prahova County Police announced traffic restrictions on two sections, between kilometers 99-100 and 107. ISU Prahova and the National Roads Section Ploiești are intervening to evacuate water and restore traffic in safe conditions. The Department for Emergency Situations has also published video images on their Facebook page of the firefighters' intervention in Comarnic to clear DN1 of the flood's effects.

Firefighters have been supplemented with teams from Bucharest-Ilfov and Covasna to manage the effects of the rains and support the affected communities. Additionally, mountain rescuers from Predeal have been mobilized to assist the locals in Bușteni. Interventions continue to restore normalcy in the area.

We remind that Prahova County is under an orange code warning for storms and torrential rains until 10:00 PM, along with the counties of Suceava, Iași, Neamț, Vaslui, Bacău, Vrancea, Buzău, Prahova, Dâmbovița, Ilfov, Tulcea, as well as some areas of the counties of Argeș and Brașov and in the municipality of Bucharest.
