The firefighters and forestry teams in Caraș-Severin County are facing multiple wildfires that have affected over 60 hectares, including areas in the Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park.
The interventions are difficult due to the rugged and hard-to-access terrain, and the authorities are working to limit the spread of the fire and protect inhabited areas. One of the hotspots has affected approximately 50 hectares of forest land, of which 25.42 hectares are managed by the Ocolul Silvic Oțelu Roșu. Currently, the fire is manifesting outside the state forest, and teams are working to extinguish it and prevent its spread into the public forest.
Another fire, which broke out on August 12, affected 12.6 hectares of state forest in Rugi - Ocolul Silvic Păltiniș. In total, forestry personnel, military firefighters, members of the Volunteer Emergency Situations Service, and locals are participating in the interventions, with a Black Hawk helicopter also being used for water drops. The fire in the Domogled National Park has affected approximately 4.5 hectares, and teams continue to work to limit the advance of the fire.
