Devastating fire at the Bistrița Monastery in Costești, Vâlcea. 10 fire trucks are intervening to extinguish the flames.

A strong fire broke out on Sunday morning at the Bistrița Monastery in the locality of Costești, Vâlcea County, according to information provided by ISU Vâlcea.

The flames are manifesting with intensity, posing a significant risk of spreading to the entire building, which covers an area of approximately 1000 square meters.

So far, no casualties have been reported.

At the scene, 10 fire-fighting vehicles have been mobilized, including 6 from ISU Vâlcea, 3 from ISU Gorj, and 1 from ISU Argeș, as well as a vehicle for high-altitude interventions and an ambulance from SAJ.

The operational teams are prioritizing efforts to locate and extinguish the fire, making considerable efforts to limit the spread of the flames to the other buildings in the monastic complex.

The authorities continue to monitor the situation and intervene to prevent the fire from spreading.
