Delgaz Grid has registered more than 650 cases of fraudulent energy and gas consumption, with an estimated damage of 8.5 million lei in the first half of 2025

Delgaz Grid company reported 660 cases of fraudulent consumption of energy and gas in the first six months of 2025, with an estimated damage of 8.5 million lei. Most electricity theft was recorded in the counties of Moldova, while fraudulent gas consumption predominated in the north-western part of Romania. The total amount of energy stolen amounted to 9.9 million kWh, and illegal connections jeopardize users' safety, the company warns. The theft of electricity and gas is considered a criminal offense under the penal code.
