The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) has announced a set of measures to streamline the activity of the courts, considering the increase in workload and the personnel deficit in the judicial system. The deadline for consulting the courts and the National Union of Bar Associations of Romania (UNBR) is January 23, 2026, to identify the difficulties in standardizing judicial activity. By January 30, 2026, the analysis of the proposals for amending the legislation will be completed, and by February 27, 2026, the mechanism for standardizing the activity of judges will be finalized. The implementation of the measures is scheduled for March 2, 2026. CSM emphasizes the need to establish an optimal workload for judges and reduce excessive burdens to ensure an efficient and quality justice.
