The court confirmed the conflict of interest found by ANI, which showed that, as the mayor of Sector 5, Piedone appointed his son-in-law to a public commission, from which he earned over 100,000 lei.
The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ÎCCJ) decided that the former mayor and head of Consumer Protection, Cristian Popescu Piedone, remains with the incompatibility ruling issued by the Bucharest Court of Appeal in 2024. The Supreme Court's decision is final.
The law states that incompatible persons cannot hold public office for 3 years.
Piedone then rejected the accusations in a press release and accused ANI of not communicating the data from the report.
