Cristian Pomohaci, a former priest, is once again in the spotlight, being accused of officiating illegal services in an improvised place of worship in Mureș County. The Archdiocese of Alba Iulia has stated that Pomohaci continues to wear priestly garments, despite being excluded from the ranks of priests following allegations of sexual assault against minors, which were statute-barred in 2018. He was also convicted of tax evasion but escaped charges of pedophilia.
Church representatives warn believers not to participate in these non-canonical services, while locals confirm that Pomohaci continues to officiate religious rituals. The area near the former restaurant fills with luxury cars on Fridays when the services take place. The situation has been brought to the attention of the police, who will take action if irregularities are discovered. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are awaiting official reports from the Archdiocese.
