Students in Constanța will receive mango instead of milk and croissant as part of the school program.

Representatives of the dairy employers consider that including mango in the Schools Program is an unusual choice, suggesting that funds could be used more efficiently for products from domestic production. Over 1,600 students in Constanța will receive mango, co-financed by the European Union, which allocates 87 million lei for vegetables, fruits, milk, and hot meals in schools.

Local authorities can decide which products to include, and mango has been chosen according to the directives of the European Union. The auction provides for the purchase of nearly 1,700 pieces, at a price of 8 lei each, similar to that in supermarkets. Although mango is appreciated for its flavor, criticisms focus on the fact that local fruits, which are more accessible and cheaper, would be a better choice. Additionally, the "milk and croissant" program is experiencing a regression, and some students will not receive daily snacks, but mango instead. The budget for a portion of milk is 1.18 lei, and for a croissant is 76 bani.
