The Ministry of Finance has announced that all contraventional fines can be paid into a single national account, according to the regulations adopted on October 30, which implement Law 203/2018. The minutes of the contraventions will be issued electronically and will contain QR codes for online payment of fines.

This measure aims to reduce bureaucracy and streamline the payment process, eliminating the need for citizens to search for the accounts of institutions or to go to counters. Initially, the system will be tested for traffic fines, and will then be extended to other types of fines. The collected money will be distributed based on the residence of the fined person, to local budgets or the state budget.
