The Comarnic bypass will be inaugurated and opened to traffic on Thursday, after nearly three years of construction

The Comarnic bypass will be inaugurated and opened to road traffic on Thursday, nearly three years after work began, the Prahova County Council announced.

The new bypass is nearly 6 kilometers long and is intended to take over part of the traffic from DN 1, reducing pressure on traffic in the town. The route bypasses Comarnic on the western side and connects to the national road through two intersections equipped with roundabouts.

The project includes several complex infrastructure works, including bridges and an approximately 380-meter-long overpass over the Prahova River and the Ploiești-Brașov railway line. The investment is expected to help ease traffic on one of the busiest routes toward the county’s mountainous area.

Work began in November 2023, in the presence of the then Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu. The project was initiated by the Prahova County Council and funded by the Ministry of Transport, through CNAIR, from the 2021-2027 Transport Operational Programme. The contract, worth 236.74 million lei excluding VAT, was awarded to the association Frasinul SRL – Artehnis SRL.
