CNAIR has implemented an automated system with 110 video cameras on national roads and highways to identify vehicles driving without a valid registration sticker. The cameras photograph license plates and a software program compares them with the national database. If a car doesn't have a paid license plate, an alert is issued and a police officer will check and fine the owner. Also, since September, charges for vignettes have increased and prices are set in euros, fluctuating according to the exchange rate.
