Europa FM received a warning from the CNA following the controversial comments made by journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu, who labeled supporters of Călin Georgescu as 'psychically ill' and 'mentally alienated' during the show 'Romania in Direct', hosted by Cătălin Striblea. Although a fine of 10,000 lei was proposed, the CNA decided to impose a milder sanction.
During the discussion, Popescu argued that the large number of supporters of Georgescu does not exclude the existence of 'millions of psychically ill people'. The moderator intervened, asking him if the phrasing is not too harsh, and Popescu explained that the term 'alienated' refers to a person detached from reality, not to madness.
The representative of Europa FM emphasized that the moderator reacted promptly, but CNA members deemed Popescu's statements unacceptable, also criticizing the moderator's reaction as insufficient.
