The National Audiovisual Council (CNA) reported 1,646 cases in the last 10 years, with 81 losses. The president of CNA, Cristian Jucan, emphasized that the last fine was set in 2009, and the maximum amount of 200,000 lei should be adjusted for inflation, reaching approximately 420,000 lei. CNA has proposed to the Government to double the fines, and discussions are ongoing.
Cristian Jucan highlighted the discrepancies between Romanian legislation and that of other European countries, emphasizing the importance of the principle of recidivism, which would ensure stricter enforcement of sanctions for repeated violations of the law. He mentioned that audiovisual legislation in Romania has not evolved in line with market changes and called for an update to reflect current realities. Jucan concluded that it is essential for the rules to be clear and applied uniformly to all actors in the field.
