The Bucharest Tribunal has decided that the mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, remains under judicial control of the DNA for a period of 60 days, rejecting his appeal. Ciucu was placed under judicial control on June 18, 2026, being accused of taking bribes from two Jordanian citizens.
According to the DNA, in November 2025, Ciucu allegedly received undue benefits in the form of advertising services and electoral consulting, in exchange for obtaining a zoning certificate and a building permit for a real estate project. The defendants must comply with obligations such as reporting to the criminal investigation body and informing about changes in residence. The investigation continues, including hearings and searches, and other real estate developers and individuals from the mayor's entourage are also involved in the case.
