The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that the widening and road systematization works on Prelungirea Ghencea will be completed in 2028, including a modern tram line and an intermodal park & ride.

The extension will have four lanes, bike paths, sidewalks, green spaces, and intersections with smart traffic lights. The total value of the works is 45.2 million lei for the road infrastructure, while the arrangement of the tram stops will cost 123.5 million lei, of which 87 million lei are non-reimbursable funds. The mayor has imposed short deadlines for addressing the issues related to the organization of the construction site and has coordinated discussions with all parties involved to unblock the works. The project includes five sections, each at different stages of execution, and the works on the new park & ride will begin after obtaining the necessary certificates.
