The new specific excise duty on cigarettes was approved by Order no. 265/2024 and will be applied from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. It is higher than the previous level of 493.988 lei/1000 cigarettes. The specific excise tax is calculated annually, based on the weighted average retail price.
