CFR Călători will soon be introducing four new Alstom trains, and in the meantime maintenance operations are being carried out on existing trains. The Alstom Grivița depot has been equipped with a state-of-the-art underground lathe for reprofiling wheels, which will reduce operating time from two days to one day for a six-car train. A delegation from the Railway Reform Authority also visited the Alstom factory in Germany, where five more trains for Romania are being produced, part of a batch of 37 interregional electric trainsets. The project has a total value of around RON 1.7 billion.
