The former candidate for the presidential elections, Călin Georgescu, has asked parliamentarians to initiate the procedure for the suspension of President Nicușor Dan, whom he accuses of abuses in appointing Eugen Tomac to form a new Government. Georgescu made these statements on Tuesday, after leaving the Sector 1 Court, where he had a hearing in a trial for promoting legionary propaganda. He stated that Nicușor Dan is illegally occupying the Cotroceni Palace and denounced the cancellation of the parliamentary elections in 2024 as a coup d'état.
Georgescu emphasized that the actions of the current president endanger Romanian democracy and urged parliamentarians to act quickly to protect the country. He has also been sent to trial for promoting fascist and legionary ideologies. Georgescu called for the declassification of the CSAT and CCR meetings related to the cancellation of the elections, emphasizing that it is essential to act now to save democracy.
