Călin Georgescu, former candidate in the presidential elections, will remain under judicial control for another 60 days, according to the decision of the Sector 1 Court, which rejected his request to revoke the preventive measure.
Georgescu is accused by the Prosecutor's Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice of publicly promoting the cult of individuals guilty of genocide and war crimes, as well as fascist and legionary ideas. He was sent to trial on July 2, 2025, having engaged in several acts of legionary propaganda between 2020 and 2025.
Among the accusations are the glorification of Ion Antonescu and the promotion of xenophobic concepts. The court's decision is not final and can be contested. Georgescu is also involved in another case, being accused of actions against the constitutional order.
