The general councilors of the Capital adopted on Tuesday a resolution that provides for the modernization of STB stations to protect passengers during heatwaves. The project, initiated by USR councilor Nicorel Nicorescu, aims to implement solutions that reduce exposure to solar radiation, such as UV protection and materials with improved thermal properties. The interventions will be carried out in phases, prioritizing stations in areas with heavy traffic and high sun exposure, taking into account vulnerable individuals.

The public administrator of the Capital, Lucian Judele, emphasized the importance of these measures for adapting the city to climate change. Estimates indicate that between 700 and 1,000 shelters require intervention. USR councilors will monitor the implementation of the project to ensure visible effects in STB stations. The identified solutions include anti-UV films, replacement of exposed surfaces, and shading systems based on vegetation.
