The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, states that the violent storm that hit Bucharest has generated an unprecedented situation, with interventions at over 1,000 properties and authorities mobilized on the ground. The mayor claims that the effects of extreme weather phenomena cannot be entirely prevented.

"I want to tell you that I have been informed that this is an unprecedented situation in Bucharest. In a way, it is good that we had an infrastructure that, after all, held up. If it had been in another environment, it would have been much worse. You cannot put an umbrella over Bucharest and say that you are prepared and that it will not rain anymore. We are talking about extreme situations and such phenomena happen," said Ciprian Ciucu.
