On the 38th anniversary of the anti-communist uprising in Brașov, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan delivered a commemorative message, highlighting that this event remains a symbol of resistance against injustice. Bolojan emphasized the courage of the workers who, in 1987, protested against the oppressive regime, paving the way for the Revolution of December 1989. He underscored the duty of current generations to defend citizens' rights and freedoms, protecting historical truth in a context marked by security challenges and disinformation.

The uprising began on November 14, 1987, as a spontaneous protest by workers, but quickly transformed into a political movement, culminating in violent repression by the Security forces. Approximately 300 protesters were arrested, and the regime attempted to downplay the significance of the event, considering it isolated cases of hooliganism. Bolojan reaffirmed the importance of building a society based on democratic values and not forgetting the sacrifices of those who fought for freedom.
