The head of the Bistrița – Năsăud County Council announced a first working meeting to analyze a strategic investment aimed at constructing a modern airport. The project envisions an area of approximately 200 hectares, including a 3.5 km runway, a cargo area, and a passenger area, located in the commune of Budacu de Jos, in the area of Șesul Budușului. The discussions focused on identifying the land, analyzing feasibility, and infrastructure connectivity, highlighting the long-term economic potential of this objective. The airport could become a regional logistics hub, stimulating business development and strengthening the strategic role of the county. This initiative comes in the context in which Bistrița – Năsăud County aspires to follow the example of Brașov County, which, although located in Transylvania, is not connected to the national highway network.
