The Oradea Local Council has approved the sale of 11.75 hectares of land in Eurobusiness IV Industrial Park to Schmitz Cargobull, one of Europe’s leading semi-trailer manufacturers. The German company will build a factory there as part of an investment of at least €25 million, excluding the cost of the land.
The plot in the Calea Sântandreiului area was purchased by Schmitz Cargobull Oradea Components SRL for €3.76 million, excluding VAT. Payment will be made in 25 equal annual installments. The site is slated to accommodate a 23,500-square-meter facility for producing chassis components and assembling complete vehicles.
The project is expected to create more than 200 jobs and become the largest investment in Industrial Park IV, according to Mayor Florin Birta. Construction could begin in the summer of 2027, with production scheduled to start in 2028.
Schmitz Cargobull has already been manufacturing in Romania since January 2026, in a leased facility measuring approximately 6,000 square meters. The unit involved an investment of around €3.5 million and can reach a capacity of 4,000 semi-trailers per year. The company chose Romania after also assessing options in Hungary and Slovakia.
