The Maramureș County Council has announced the start of the bidding process for the first phase of an express road project that will connect Baia Mare to the major highways in the region. This phase includes two road sections with a total length of 19.68 km, with an estimated value of 1.72 billion lei, VAT included. The project, carried out in partnership with CNAIR, will remove heavy traffic from the municipality and facilitate access to Baia Mare International Airport and industrial areas. The total duration of the project is 30 months, of which 6 months for design and 24 months for execution.
In parallel, the Satu Mare County Council has obtained a favorable opinion for the feasibility study of the Satu Mare – Baia Mare Express Road, which will have a length of 59.17 km and a total value of 5.93 billion lei. The funding will come from external sources and the state budget, and the execution is estimated at 42 months, with the bidding planned for the first quarter of 2026.
